All right, I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it. The first forty minutes bored me, with good bits taking the forms of bread crumbles. However, the last hour of the film is good, exciting, fun, passionate and enjoyable. Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Martin Starr and Ryan Reynolds are all good actors, and they each do a good job with their roles (My personal favorite o
f the four being Starr). However, Bill Hader and Kristen Wigg’s few scenes are hilarious, and I would have loved to see more of them throughout the film (The best scene in the movie features Bill Hader and a baseball bat, and I laughed for a pretty long time).
The characters in the film are hard to like, and I guess that’s because they’re relatable, in a strange way. These characters spend the moving making stupid decisions, and that’s because they’re young, and are learning life lessons. There’s some really good directing, with the best-looking scene being when Eisenberg, Stewart and Starr’s characters are all on the go-karts after eating pot cookies), and the soundtrack is incredible, rivaling “Awesome Mix Vol. 1”.
Adventureland is a coming-of-age film. It's not one you should show teenagers if you want them to grow up and become adults. It is however, a reasonable good time that isn't too shabby.
